In Year 9 pupils study a core curriculum including English, Mathematics, Biology, Chemistry, Physics, Geography, History, Religious Studies, PSHEE, Games and PE. In addition, for September 2024, pupils have to choose three of the following subjects to complete their programme of study.
It is expected that every student currently studying a modern language should continue to study a language into Year 9. Students can, of course, choose two (or possibly even all three) languages as their Year 9 subjects.
If a pupil wishes to study any of computing, French, Spanish or German to GCSE they should choose it as one of their Year 9 options. The other options subjects may be taken at GCSE even if they have not been studied in Year 9, although it is preferable to have done so.
It will not be possible to timetable every combination of subjects. As a result, it is unlikely to be possible to give every pupil their first three choices of subject. As such, we ask each pupil to choose three subjects, in priority order, plus a reserve. The timetable will then be constructed to maximise the number of students who can study their top three choices.
I should be grateful if you would fill in the attached form confirming their choice of options and return it ASAP.
Full details of courses are in the Year 9 Curriculum Guide.
Please indicate below your preferred choice of options together with a ‘reserve’ choice
